When your weapon is put upright or is laying down on its side, the illuminated dot automatically goes to sleep mode and will activate again when you take it out of this position. It has a timer auto switch off (3h) and it will also tell you when battery power is low, so you have the time to take a new battery from the spare battery compartment and continue your hunt without any frustrations.
